Design Goals

- frequency is 90 MHz;
- bandwith is 10 MHz; the bandwith is here defined by the requirement that the phase variation over the bandwith does not exceed 90 degrees;
- circular left-hand (or right-hand) polarization;
- A comet 1 km in diameter and wiewed from an altitude of 1 km covers an angle of 36 degrees. Thus, the wanted field of view of the antenna is 40 degrees wide, centered on the x-axis of the spacecraft coordinate system.
- gain is >2 dB;
- gain variations across the field of view (40 degrees) should not exceed a few dB;
- all metallic parts of the antenna must be on spacecraft potential(DC);
- the weight of antenna is < 1350 ± 50 g (includes cables and connectors);
- antenna input impedance is 50 Ohm;
- deployment of antenna on command;
- indicator of successful deployment required;
- energy flow between antenna and spacecraft <|2|W
