The goal of this conference is to highlight recent advances in global and local helioseismology. A desired outcome is an improved understanding of current opportunities for exploiting the beautiful observational data sets now available to the community. A special session to honour the memory of Irene González-Hernández will be held, devoted to her scientific interests. The conference will be hosted by the new Department "Solar and Stellar Interiors" in the new building of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen.
