The Sun in C IV and Cont.: Spectral Information
The images above show average intensities collected from 10 raster steps at
the south polar limb:
- (right:) the spectral window, i.e. part of the image of the 1x300
arcsec slit on the detector, with the Carbon IV (1548 Å) line
clearly to be seen, incl. limb brightening,
- (left:) the line profile, i.e. the average intensities for this window,
measured in counts/arcsec²/s (log scale), vs. their 50 spectral
pixels (1 px = 0.042 Å).
The spectral region considered continuum, to the right of the C IV and
the two Si I lines, is marked with asterisks.
