During the full disk scan, spectral resolution was lost due to the on-board data reduction (= integration of the spectral window). Therefore, before the scan started, the SUMER detector was exposed for 10 seconds, pointing to the south-east Solar limb, to collect this spectral information.
The images above show the three spectral windows at 790, 804, 812 Å on the detector (left), and the average intensities for these windows, measured in counts/arcsec²/s (log scale, right), vs. their 50 spectral pixels (1 px = 0.045 Å).
