Plumes above Solar Limb, observed by SUMER 27.Jan.96

Limb scan taken in the emission line of Mg X at 609 Angstrom. The left picture shows as comparison the limb and the chromospheric network in the light of the continuum (coming from a colder temperature zone), which is also used to mark the limb position (bright edge in right picture). The intensities of the emission line (2nd order) and the continuum situated at the corresponding wavelength (1st order) are shown in the same scale.
