SUMER observed the same area (on the southern Solar hemisphere, around the central meridian) several times in several temperature regions: Different ions were observed at different times, but with rotation compensation, thus the surface structure should be comparable.

From left to right, the lines are

Nitrogen III (989.7 Å) at 80 000 K
Silicon IV (1393.6 Å) at 100 000 K
Sulfur VI (933.4 Å) at 200 000 K
Oxygen VI (1037.5 Å) at 300 000 K

The observed area is always 115 arcsec in north-south extension, and 137 arcesc in east-west extension. The exposure time was 20 seconds per raster step.
