I agree with you that it would be much nicer, if we had only one set of SUMER data to start with. Unfortunately, we have two. The fits files, which will be the final archive format, I hope, and the original SUMER/SOHO data as read from the CD-ROM. I disagree with you that the latter are more prone to changes than the fits file. Moreover, the CD-ROM data are more complete, and this is one of the reasons why they are so popular (unfortunately, the MPAE group feels, because we are not in a position to do the distribution on a large scale). In this particular case, they were also available more quickly, and this was the reason, why Harry asked us. With best regards, Klaus
