Installing
and
WinEdt
over the network
WinEdt
is a sophisticated text editor for producing ascii files, computer code, and most importantly, ...
...LaTeX files, for which it acts as a graphical interface to all the TeX programs (of an existing installation)
The current installation on the MPS Windows server interfaces to the TeXLive 2008 installation
Installation over the network requires only minimal number of files copied to the local machine, and ...
...program updates can be done centrally without disturbing users on their own machines.
A local installation to Laptops is also possible; ask at the Computing Centre.
Installing on the network
In the Windows Explorer, copy the directory k:\tex to your local p:\tex
Double click on the WinEdt shortcut . This should open the WinEdt window.
Two files are opened (both now in p:\tex); one is the installation instruction file, and the other a simple "Hello World" test file.
For the test file, click on the LaTeX or pdfLaTeX icon to process, and then on the dvi or Acrobat icons to view the result.
For further information about registration, establishing shortcut icons, file typ associations, read the (opened) file readme_pwd.txt.
