First Post-Launch PHILAE Experimenters Workshop

Victor's Residenz Hotel Teistungenburg
Klosterweg 6-7 - D-37339 Teistungen - Germany

PHILAE on Comet In the friendly and relaxing environment of this hotel located on the grounds of an ancient monastery, we hope to have a focused and fruitful workshop with presentations and plenty of discussions on three topics:

  • cometary science (of immediate interest for PHILAE)
  • PHILAE experiments: status and plans for the cruise phase
  • on-comet phase science themes

The workshop program will start on 4th April after lunch and will end around noon on 6th April. For those interested we will try to organize visits and excursions to the Grenzlandmuseum Eichsfeld (next to the hotel) on 5th April and to the exhibition "Der geschmiedete Himmel" in Halle (about 2h by car east of the meeting place) after the end of the workshop.

Further details on the workshop including a tentative agenda and the registration form are given on the following pages. Please register with the local organizers by 23 February at the latest.

We are looking forward to see you at the workshop

Jean-Pierre Bibring and Hermann Boehnhardt

Workshop Participants

All PHILAE experimenters and engineers are invited to participate. We will have some distinguished invited speakers for science talks that should foster the discussion among the workshop participants. The organizers also welcome the participation of interested colleagues from the overall ROSETTA science community, in particular of the ROSETTA orbiter PIs and ESA project representatives. The number of workshop participants, however, is limited.

Workshop Program

Oral presentations only are foreseen. Space for poster display will not be available. It is the intention to hold the workshop in a creative atmosphere and as informal as possible in the spirit of collegiality and with flexibility to foster the discussions of the workshop participants. A tentative program for the workshop is given below.
