STARE
The Scandinavian Twin Auroral Radar Experiment
The Scandinavian Twin Auroral Radar Experiment (STARE) consists of two
coherent radar stations located in Midtsandan in Norway, and in
Hankasalmi in Finland.
Stare measures the electron flow (~ electric field) pattern and its
dynamics with good spatial and temporal resolution over a large
area (~ 200 000 km^2) of the auroral zone in Northern Scandinavia
along eight antenna lobes.
The Experiment provides a window on to the interaction between
our planet and the solar wind.
