Predicted gain variations
The spatial variations of the orbiter antenna gain is shown within a polar angle of +40 degrees measured form the direction towards the comet. The Gain is shown as seen from the comet towards the antenna (the reader's head is located where the comet is), with the spacecraft located to the left of the antenna. In the antenna coordinate system the comet is on the +Z-axis, the +X-axis is vertical, and the +Y-axis is to the left.
Actual measurements are expected to be made within +20 degrees from the +Z-axis. Shown is the gain of the Left Hand circular polarised component of the total signal as a function of frequency and position of the solar panels. The panels are rotating around the Y-axis, and the panel position is given by the polar angle in the ZX-plane measured from the +Z-axis.
