Eliana Amazo Gomez

I am a Colombian PhD researcher happily working at the Max Planck Institute for the Solar System Research -- MPS --. My research is focus on the analysis of the novel GPS method to determine rotational periods on Sun-like stars. This methods is based on the signal description of the Fourier space of light curves trough the wavelet transform analysis. I have experience in photometric, spectroscopic and, polarimetric data analysis. I am manly interested on phenomena related with stellar magnetic fields, rotation, abundances and, exoplanets habitability.

During my Master research at the Astronomical Observatory of the Ludwig Maximilians University, I worked on the correlations between magnetic activity levels versus abundances on Sun-like stars. To find the correlations I learned how to retrieve magnetic indicators such as S-Index, H(alpha), longitudinal magnetic field components. Also, to measure the abundance of elements as lithium.

During my bachelor at the Physics department of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, I worked on the impact of the solar wind and CMEs on the Earth bow-shock using data from THEMIS mission. Before finish my Bachelor I went three different internship programs: First at INAOE in Tonatzintla - Mexico, where I worked on the Sun-like stars lithium abundance problem. Second at MPA in Garching - Germany, where I learned how to use GARSTEC code. Third one at AIP in Potsdam - Germany, where I learned to analyse polarimetric data.
